| | | NHF12-126 | | Mechanics of Physical Intimacy: Managing Pain & Joint Limitations in Sexual Relationships Speakers: Alice Anderson, PT, DPT, PCS In this session we focus on the biomechanics of sexual activity for individuals with chronic pain and/or limitations in joint function due to bleeding disorders. We discuss possible expansion of one’s view of sexuality, principles of positioning to promote intimacy and comfort, and pros and cons of common positions assumed during physical intimacy. We list options for intimate exploration, describe three principles of optimal positioning and at least two methods of modifying posture to increase comfort while participating in intimate activity, and describe potential benefits and drawbacks to common positions assumed during intimate interaction.
