We analyze the biomechanical stress of weight loading on joints and multiple body systems, and will review how being overweight adversely affects people with bleeding disorders even more than the average population. Examples of calculations for biomechanical stress are given. Research on weight-loss strategies will be reviewed and participants will develop at least one strategy for counseling/patient education, safe exercise for fitness, wellness and weight loss, motivation and promotion of self-management.
